Portal Terms of Use

Last updated: September 2026

The GOHBA Student Placement Portal is provided by the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’
Association to help GOHBA members connect with students and apprentices who may be
available for employment, co-op placements, apprenticeships or other work-related
opportunities in the residential construction industry.

By accessing or using the Portal, you agree to the following terms

1. Member Access

The Portal is available only to authorized GOHBA members and other users approved by
GOHBA.

Your login credentials are for your use only. You may not share your account or provide Portal
access to anyone who is not authorized to use it.

2. Permitted Use

Information in the Portal may be used only for legitimate employment, apprenticeship, co-op
placement or other workforce-development purposes related to your organization.

You may not use the Portal or student information for marketing, solicitation, unrelated
recruitment, data collection, or any other purpose not connected to a genuine placement or
employment opportunity.

3. Student Privacy and Confidentiality

Student information provided through the Portal must be treated as confidential.

Members agree not to:

  • share student information with people who do not have a legitimate role in the hiring or
  • placement process;
  • publish, post or distribute student information;
  • create or maintain separate databases of student information;
  • use information obtained through the Portal for purposes unrelated to a potential
  • placement or employment opportunity; or
  • attempt to identify or contact a student outside the process provided through the Portal unless authorized by the student’s educator or program representative.

Information should be retained only as long as reasonably necessary to consider or pursue a
placement.

4. Contact With Students

Initial inquiries about a student should be made through the educator, training partner or other contact identified in the Portal.

The educator or program representative will provide additional student information or facilitate direct contact where appropriate.

5. Appropriate Employment Practices

Members are responsible for ensuring that any employment, apprenticeship, co-op placement or work opportunity they offer complies with all applicable laws, workplace standards, health and safety requirements, supervision requirements and program rules.

Use of the Portal does not replace a member’s responsibility to conduct its own hiring,
screening and workplace processes.

6. Accuracy of Information

Student information is provided by participating educators and training partners.
GOHBA does not independently verify all information contained in student profiles and cannot guarantee that information is complete, current or accurate.

Members should confirm relevant qualifications, availability, certifications and other information directly with the educator or program representative before making a placement or employment decision.

7. No Guarantee of Placement

Listing a student in the Portal does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation by
GOHBA.

GOHBA does not guarantee that:

  • a student will be suitable for a particular position;
  • a student will remain available;
  • a member will find a suitable candidate; or
  • an inquiry will result in a placement, apprenticeship or employment relationship.

Employment and placement decisions remain the responsibility of the member, student and
participating educational or training organization.

8. Respectful and Responsible Use

Members are expected to use the Portal professionally and respectfully.
Student information must not be used in a discriminatory, inappropriate or misleading manner.

Members must follow all applicable human rights, employment and privacy requirements when considering candidates.

9. Account Security and Misuse

Members must take reasonable steps to protect their Portal credentials and prevent
unauthorized access.

Any suspected loss, unauthorized access, privacy breach or misuse of student information
should be reported to GOHBA promptly.

GOHBA may suspend or terminate access where it believes the Portal, an account or student
information has been misused.

10. Changes to the Portal or These Terms

GOHBA may update the Portal, its features or these Terms of Use from time to time.
Continued use of the Portal after updated terms are posted constitutes acceptance of the
revised terms.

11. Questions or Concerns

Questions about the Student Placement Portal, access, student information or these Terms of
Use should be directed to the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association.

By accessing the Student Placement Portal, you confirm that you have read and agree to
these Terms of Use.
